Purl stitch

Funny, I seem to have forgotten how to purl! I know I have done it plenty in the past, but now it is just getting me all twisted up and not working right. So... off to www.knittinghelp.com to see a video clip and re-learn it. Uggh!

Continental Knitting

I am teaching myself how to continental knit, where you hold the working string in your left hand instead of right. I like it, and it will definitely be faster eventually, but there will be a learning curve. I started a fuzzy brown, long, thin scarf for me where I will only allow mysef to continental knit. It will take a while, but it will eventually get done!

New Project - Coonskin Hat!

I received my new knitting needles in the mail today. I am very excited about them. They are Brittany wooden double-pointed needles, I got sizes 2, 5, and 10.

My next project that I started tonight, is a coonskin hat for Will. This pattern came from www.knitty.com and looks like lots of fun. Hopefully I can figure it out. Attaching a pic of what the finished project should look like, and what it looks like right now, cast onto 4 needles. The yarn is fun, I look forward to seeing this done.

Bunny slippers finished!

I finally finished up the bunny slippers! These I was originally making for my niece Talia, but I used larger needles than I should have so they will be for my other niece Gwynhevere (3yo). They turned out larger than I expected, otherwise pretty good. :-) They were very, very easy! I meant to take a pic of the parts before I put the last one together, but forgot. This was just 3 squares sewn together. Two for bottom, folded like an open envelope, and one for back which was folded into a triangle and stitched to open flap of envelope. Then, you just stitched on the ears, which each took only about 5 minutes each, make a pom pom for tail and stitch on nose and button eyes. I really enjoyed making them and plan to have Heather (8yo) make some smaller versions for her dolls maybe. You could vary the color and tails/ears to make all sorts of animals.

Fun!

I've started knitting again!

I made a scarf for my friend Heather and she showed me all sorts of fun projects she has done and was working on. I got inspired to try something a little more difficult than washcloths and scarves, which is about all I have ever done!

So... here is where I'll be posting my knitting stuff. Pics of things I've done, patterns, links, etc... Complaints and frustrations when I can't figure something out (there will be lots of those, lol).
